The owners of those sites are only interested in generating drama, which in turn generates revenue through page views.

Months ago, I tried a serious thread for the demos of beta vB versions, and they allowed people to hijack it with abuse, eventually even telling me what opinions I was allowed to post.

Tis doesn't just happen to vB staff. A least two XenForo staff don't post there any more they just got a load of abuse.

It's sad that the only remaining admin sites have allowed a handful of rabid extremists to hijack discussions. Very few genuine customers are on those sites seeking assistance and discussion, if they were I'd happily return. I refuse to be treated as a piece of troll bait.

There's a clear market for someone to come in and do admin forums properly.

Not with XenForo as the software.
Employing moderators who don't moderate according to their own personal opinion
Not tolerating abuse and trolling

But it would require money, dedication and time.

Never been on Lisa's latest forum. I believe it's dedicated to XF so it would not interest me.

Not so sure, admin forums are either dead or very quiet these days, bar the odd one. Not sure starting a new one would get anywhere, think you'd have be offering things and be much more than just a forum. Don't think any forum can work now unless you're either lucky and cover something that works well by accident, or you're offering things and is not just a discussion board (people can use twitter and FB for that). And don't mean offering things like graphic downloads e.t.c, like TAZ and AX does, more along the lines of what Digital Point offers.

It's still a niche... is the admin one that people like to talk on those type of forums, but things have got so bad for them these days it's not worth starting a new one trying to make it work. And like you say, it requires a lot of dedication and who's going to do that now looking at the way forums are in general. You'd be mad putting tons of time into one.

We've already seen both Admin Addict and Admin Extra vanish and it's not really helped boost discussion on AT or TAZ left, them not being around now since. And that for me sums up the way things are now.

Like I said, nobody is doing it well currently. If someone came in and did it well, the others would die.

But nobody's likely to do that. It would take lots of time and lots of money.

As a forum enthusiast...XenForo itself is interesting, but forums full of XenForo salesman are not.

That said, I couldn't and wouldn't ever use it. But then I couldn't and wouldn't ever use phpBB either...sorry.
