This is what VM customs have now. I checked my settings for websafe after it being activated (and not even knowing it was active) until that site got blocked. But most people will disable the first one "blocking certain types of sites", but will probably leave the second one active to help protect against viruses.

Definitely nothing wrong ith the site...Google search would soon flag it anyway.
It's a false positive, if you Google the issue you'll see Web Safe is notorious for this.

Turn the thing off. You don't need it, all it will do is slow down your web browsing while it checks its database every page you try and load.
These type of things are a gimmick, and a load of rubbish that plays on the paranoia that the media fosters about "malcious hackers lurking round every corner, watching YOUR machine specifically" and all that nonsense.

Very few Virgin Media customers will see the site anyhow, as it's purely aimed at the US market.

When I get home I'll try turning Web Safe on and report their blocking of their site as incorrect.

Chances are they've misread all the Javascript on the site that vB5 uses and assumed it must be malicious....this is exactly the sort of scattergun, stupid approach this type of utterly useless service uses. You might as well say "too much html on there, must be a hacker". Ludicrous.

And that poses a problem for site like that getting blocked by not only Virgin Media, but if right even Sky and a few others are being forced to use Web Safe in the UK now as ISPs.
I'll be reporting it to Web Safe.

The site doesn't use ads either, they are a hobby site like mine and do not run any advertising ata ll, so there's no false positive coming from there either.

Their users are fond of posting huge animiated cartoon-like gifs to each other, so maybe that's triggered it. Again this proves how rubbish services like Web Safe are...they assume everything but the most basic website must have been hacked.

Herd runs on a fully managed VPS that's kept up to date by the excellent hosts, and the site is effectively managed by me from a technical perspective.

Of course, perhaps web safe is grabbing the out of date version number of vBulletin, (5.0.5), since there are minor exploits in that version...however I have manually patched those.

When I email Web Safe I'll ask them to tell me on what grounds they "flagged" it.

Even Google gets these things wrong. I wish all these interfering companies would back off.

Try this online site scanner from Trend Micro, who are very reputable:

You'll see hdherd comes back clean.

Yes, but like I said, they aren't looking for traffic from the UK...they are an entirely US-centric site. They don't run adverts so they aren't interested in page views. They just want to provide a community for US-based Harley Davidson enthusiasts.

That said, as stated I will report it to Web Safe as a false positive.
